Abstract

The monograph "Population of Ukraine. Essays on the Demographic State of Ukraine in the First Thirty Years of Independence" is a significant contribution to the study of demographic processes that took place in Ukraine during the period of formation of the new Ukrainian statehood. Introducing a systematic approach to the analysis of population dynamics, its structure, trends in marriage and family processes, birth rate, mortality, migration processes and socio-demographic policy, the authors reveal a comprehensive picture of the country's demographic landscape. The relevance of this monograph is obvious, as it analyzes important trends and challenges faced by modern Ukrainian society in the context of demographic development. In particular, the authors consider in detail the impact of regional economic difficulties and socio-political changes on demographic processes. They draw attention to the importance of improving the demographic policy and developing strategies to preserve the health of the population. The special value of the monograph is that it not only analyzes the past, but also makes scientifically based forecasts of the future development of events. Analyzing new demographic indicators, the authors try to determine possible prospects for the development of the population of Ukraine. The cruel, unjustified war unleashed by the aggressor country in Ukraine is the most painful stage of recent national history. In this context, the pages of the monograph are important, where the impact of the war and political crises on the demographic processes unfolding in the country is considered.
