Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Editorial Board of the scientific journal Regional Aspects of Productive Forces Development of Ukraine supports the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly activities and editorial processes.
The use of AI should contribute to improving the quality of scientific publications without replacing the intellectual contribution of the author or diminishing the author’s academic responsibility.
Permissible Use of AI
Authors may use AI technologies for:
-
language editing of manuscripts;
-
correction of technical and stylistic errors;
-
improvement of manuscript structure and organization;
-
translation assistance.
Restrictions on the Use of AI
The use of AI is prohibited for:
-
generating or falsifying scientific results;
-
creating fabricated data or fictitious references;
-
replacing the author’s original scientific analysis and scholarly reasoning.
AI systems cannot be recognized as authors or co-authors of scientific publications.
Authors must not submit manuscripts in which generative AI technologies have been used in a manner that replaces the core responsibilities of a researcher and author. Such cases may be subject to editorial investigation.
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality, validity, and integrity of the content submitted for publication. When choosing to use AI technologies, authors must do so in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies on authorship and publication ethics.
The Editorial Board conducts checks for the use of generative AI technologies during the initial plagiarism screening process using specialized automated software tools.
Disclosure Requirements
Authors must clearly disclose any use of generative AI technologies in the preparation of their manuscript, including:
-
the full name of the tool used;
-
the version number (where applicable);
-
how the tool was used;
-
the purpose for which it was used.
Routine tools such as grammar checkers, spelling checkers, reference management tools, or similar writing assistance software do not require disclosure.
Requirements for Authors Regarding the Use of AI Technologies
Transparency
Authors are required to disclose the use of any AI system during manuscript preparation (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, DeepL Write, Grammarly, or similar tools).
Human Authorship
AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript.
Responsibility
Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of submitted materials, regardless of whether AI technologies were used.
Limitations
The use of AI for generating research data, falsifying results, or creating non-existent references is strictly prohibited.
Use of AI by the Editorial Office
The Editorial Board may use AI technologies for:
-
preliminary screening of manuscripts;
-
language editing;
-
generation of metadata.
AI technologies are not used to make decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
The Editorial Board adheres to the following ethical principles:
-
Transparency: any use of AI must be disclosed;
-
Accountability: responsibility for content rests solely with human participants;
-
Integrity: published results must accurately reflect genuine research activity.
The journal follows the international recommendations of COPE (https://publicationethics.org/cope-focus/cope-focus-artificial-intelligence), WAME (https://wame.org/news-details.php?nid=40), and the Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Educational and Research Activities of West Ukrainian National University (https://www.wunu.edu.ua/past-and-present/academic-integrity/16284-akademchna-dobrochesnst.html).

Use of AI Technologies by Reviewers
Generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies must not be used by editors to support the manuscript evaluation or editorial decision-making process.
Reviewers may use AI technologies solely for linguistic editing of their own review texts.
The transmission of manuscript content to external AI systems is strictly prohibited in order to ensure the confidentiality of the peer-review process.
